U.S. SALES ORGANIZATION

January, 2009 - The consolidation of Selkirk and Hart & Cooley announced last August was driven by the deterioration of our markets and declining business levels, along with the opportunity to capitalize on a number of synergies between the Selkirk and Hart & Cooley organizations. Since that announcement the economy has continued to worsen, and 2009 residential markets in the U.S. will be down over 25% from 2008 levels. This has increased the urgency in capitalizing on the synergies and talent that exits between the two companies.

To further strengthen our sales performance, we will have a single point contact for each of our key U.S. business segments. This will include all brands sold through the respective channels. This focus will better enable us to drive sales performance by optimizing pricing, product rationalization, brand utilization and customer development strategies.

Going forward Tim Rothgeb will be responsible for the Hearth, Retail and OEM sales channels for all brands. This includes Selkirk, Hart & Cooley and AMP. Supporting Tim in this role will be Fred Pierce for Hearth, Gary Light for Retail and Rich Sinsitore for OEM accounts. Selkirk customer service, and the rest of the Dallas office staff, will continue to report to Tim as currently structured.

Gary Fisher will be responsible for the HVAC distribution channel for all brands. This includes Selkirk, Hart & Cooley and AMP. All regional sales managers will report to Gary. In addition to his current sales manager reports, John Mennella and Eckhard Hilscher will join the team. The sales administration group in Grand Rapids will continue to report to Gary.

I look forward to your support of Tim and Gary in their new roles.

Executive VP, Sales & Marketing

Sales Tips: Direct-Temp/Multi-Fuel (DT-M)

Are your customers having a problem venting those appliances that burn corn or other bio fuels? Are the corrosive exhaust gases eating away the metal? Is there a problem with these appliances getting sufficient combustion air? If your customers are dealing with any of these issues with a competitive product, then they need the Direct-Temp® for Multi-Fuel product, or “DT-M” for short. The DT-M product line has all the features that satisfy the needs of the customer. Let’s look at these features in detail.
• An inner conduit made of the superferritic stainless steel alloy AL29-4C®. This corrosion-resistant stainless steel has the strength to resist destructive flue gases derived from burning bio fuels, such as corn, hulled wheat, soy beans, olive pits, cherry pits, processed silage, waste paper, and the like.
• Dual use: Conventional or Concentric Venting. Having a dual capability, the DT-M product can be used as a double-wall vent pipe with superior insulating qualities when close clearances are required. Or, it can be used as a concentric system for direct vent applications when outside air needs to be brought in for combustion.
• A one-pipe system. The inner conduit carries the flue gases out, while the annular space between the flue and the outer jacket brings in the outside air for combustion. Exhaust and air intake in one vent system speeds up the installation process of the venting system.
• Sure-Seal™ silicone gasket technology. Simple and fast installation is achieved by the Sure-Seal™ silicone gasket technology. Providing a safe and long-lasting assembly, this technology was developed with years of experience in fabricating fastening systems that are quick and effective. The integral silicone seal in the joint means there’s no need to apply a high-temperature sealant.
• Clearance. One-inch clearance allows installations in the most confining spaces.
• UL listings. The DT-M is UL641 and UL/ORD-C441 listed.
• Size offering. The DT-M is available in two sizes—3" x 5" and 4" x 7".Direct Temp for Multi-Fuel (DT-M)
